Saucy Gochujang Chicken Wings

with Toasted Sesame Seeds and Green Onions

These chicken wings are the perfect combination of sweet, spicy and tangy, thanks to a delicious gochujang glaze! Fresh green onions and plenty of sesame seeds add colour and crunch.

Cooking Steps

  • Prepare a large foil-lined baking sheet, then brush with 2 tsp oil or cooking spray.
  • Pat chicken wings dry with paper towels.
  • To a large bowl, add chicken wings, baking powder and 1/4 tsp pepper. Season with salt, then toss to coat. 
  • Arrange chicken wings on the prepared baking sheet.

  • Bake chicken wings the middle of the oven for 12-15 min, until cooked through.**
  • Remove wings from the oven and set oven to broil. 
  • Flip wings, then broil in the top of the oven for 2-3 min, until wings are crispy and golden.

  • Meanwhile, peel, then mince or grate garlic. 
  • Thinly slice green onions.
  • Peel, then mince or grate ginger.
  • Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium. When hot, add 1 tbsp oil, then garlic, ginger and gochujang. Cook 30 sec-1 min, stirring occasionally, until fragrant. Add soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar and 2 tbsp water. Stir for 1-2 min, until sugar has dissolved and sauce comes to a simmer. Continue to cook for 1-2 min, stirring occasionally, until sauce thickens slightly.

  • Remove chicken wings from oven, then transfer to a large bowl. Pour gochujang sauce over top, then toss to combine until chicken is fully coated. 
  • Transfer chicken wings to a serving platter, then sprinkle sesame seeds and green onions over top.
