A twist on a beloved breakfast staple, these Pumpkin Spice Cinnamon Rolls are filled with all the warming flavours of fall. Soft dough is filled with a mixture of butter, brown sugar and pumpkin pie spice to create the perfect balance of sweet and spice, and finished off with a generous helping of cream cheese glaze, because what is a breakfast bun without the icing?!

Cooking Steps

  • Sprinkle both sides of dough with flour, then stretch into a rough 8 x11-inch rectangle. (NOTE: You can use a rolling pin or bottle to help roll the dough.)
  • Let dough rest in a warm place for 8-10 min.

  • Meanwhile, stir together brown sugar, Pumpkin Pie Spice Mix, 1/2 tsp cinnamon and 1/8 tsp salt in a small bowl until no lumps remain.
  • Roughly chop pecans.

  • Grease an 8x8-inch baking dish with 2 tsp softened butter.
  • With floured hands, stretch dough again into an 8x11-inch rectangle. (NOTE: The dough should now hold its shape.)
  • Using the back of a spoon, spread remaining softened butter over dough, then sprinkle filling and pecans over top.
  • Starting from the longer side, tightly roll dough into a log.
  • Using a sharp knife, cut dough crosswise into 6 equal-sized rolls.
  • Arrange rolls in the prepared baking dish, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  • Bake rolls in the middle of the oven until slightly puffed and lightly golden-brown, 20-23 min.

  • Once rolls have been baking for 15 min, arrange bacon strips in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Bake in the bottom of the oven until crispy and cooked through, 12-14 min.**
  • Transfer bacon to a paper towel-lined plate. Set aside.
  • Meanwhile, melt 1 tbsp butter in the microwave. 
  • Add cream cheese to the bowl with butter and beat together until no lumps remain, 1 min. Whisk in icing sugar until glaze is smooth.
  • Remove rolls from the oven and set aside to cool for 5 min, then transfer to a plate. Spread cream cheese glaze over rolls.
  • Divide spiced pecan cinnamon rolls and bacon between plates.
