Cooking Steps

  • Before starting, preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • Spread pecans and walnuts on an unlined baking sheet. Bake in the middle of the oven for 5-6 min, until lightly toasted. Set aside.
  • Meanwhile, grease an 8x8-inch baking dish with 2 tsp oil, then line the base and sides with a piece of parchment paper.
  • Melt 4 tbsp butter in the microwave. 
  • Add graham cracker crumbs, melted butter and 1/8 tsp salt to a medium bowl, then mix to comine.

  • Transfer the graham cracker crumb mixture to the baking dish, then, using the back of a measuring cup or the bottom of a glass, firmly press crumb mixture down into a compact, even layer.
  • Scatter chocolate chips, pecans, walnuts and coconut over top of graham cracker crumb layer.
  • Pour condensed milk evenly over top. (TIP: Tilt the pan gently in all directions to ensure consistent coverage!)

  • Bake in the middle of the oven for 25-30 min, until condensed milk is golden around the edges and set in the centre.
  • Remove baking dish from the oven and set aside on a wire rack for 10 mins to cool slightly. Sprinkle flaky salt over top.
  • Transfer baking dish to the fridge for 1 hr, until completely cooled.

  • Remove bars from the baking dish by gently pulling on the edges of the parchment paper. (NOTE: If the edges start to stick, run a sharp knife around the perimeter of the pan to help loosen.)
  • Cut into desired number of slices.
