  • Before starting, remove pizza dough from the fridge and rest in a warm spot for 20 min. 
    Preheat the oven to 400˚F.
  • Grease the base and sides of a bread loaf pan with 1 tsp softened butter. Line the base and sides with parchment paper, leaving a 2-inch overhang on all sides. (TIP: The overhang will make it easy for you to remove the cake from the pan later.)
Make sauce

  • Heat a medium pot over medium-low.
  • Add 2 tbsp water and brown sugar. Cook for 3-4 min, stirring constantly, until sugar has melted and sauce has slightly reduced. 
  • Add remaining butter and 1/4 tsp salt. Cook for 1-2 min, until well combined. 
  • Pour brown sugar mixture into the prepared bread loaf pan. 
  • Sprinkle half the pecans over top, then set aside.
Prepare dough

  • On a clean, lightly floured surface, roll or stretch dough into a 12" long rectangle.
  • Sprinkle chocolate chips and remaining pecans over top. Press down gently so the chocolate and pecans stick slightly. 
  • Cut dough into 12 equal squares, then roll each piece into a ball.
  • Place dough balls into the prepared baking dish in a single layer. (NOTE: It's okay if the dough gets squished a bit!)
Finish and serve

  • Place pan in oven, then reduce heat to 350˚F.
  • Bake for 28-30 min, in the middle of the oven, until a toothpick inserted into the centre of the cake comes out mostly clean.
  • Remove pan from oven and transfer to a wire rack to cool for 15-20 min. 
  • Once cool to touch, place a plate over top of monkey bread and carefully flip the pan.
  • Remove parchment paper, then cut into slices or tear pieces away.
