Cooking Steps

Prep and toast buns
1
  • Cut celery into 1/4-inch pieces.
  • Slice tomato into 1/4 inch rounds.
  • Core, then slice apples into 1/2-inch slices.
  • Drain tuna.
Toast buns
2
  • Halve buns. Arrange on an unlined baking sheet, cut-side up. Toast buns in the middle of the oven until golden-brown, 2-4 min. (TIP: Keep an eye on buns so they don't burn!)

Make tuna melts
3
  • Meanwhile, add tuna, mayo, Dijon and celery to a large bowl. Season with salt and pepper, then mash with a fork to combine.
  • Carefully remove buns from the oven, then divide tuna mixture evenly over buns. Sprinkle cheese over top.
  • Return buns to the middle of the oven and bake until cheese melts, 1-2 min.
Finish and serve
4
  • Divide tuna melts between plates. Top with tomatoes.
  • Serve apple slices alongside.
