Cooking Steps

Prep broccoli

  • Before starting, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil (use same for 4 servings). Wash and dry all produce.
  • Young Chef: Use a kid-friendly knife to cut broccoli into bite-sized pieces. 
Cook pasta

  • To the boiling water, add pasta. Cook uncovered for 7 min, stirring occasionally. 
  • Add broccoli. 
  • Cook for 3-4 min, until pasta and broccoli are tender.
  • Reserve 1/4 cup (1/2 cup) pasta water, then drain and return pasta and broccoli to the same pot, off heat.
Cook turkey

  • Heat a large non-stick pan over medium-high. When hot, add 1 tbsp (2 tbsp) oil, then turkey. Cook for 4-5 min, breaking up turkey into smaller pieces, until no pink remains.**
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Remove the pan from heat.

  • Young Chef: Sprinkle flour over turkey, then stir to coat. 
  • Young Chef: Add 1 cup (2 cups) milk to the pan.
  • Return the pan to medium heat and whisk until combined. Whisk in half the Smoked Paprika-Garlic Blend. Cook 1-2 min, whisking often, until sauce thickens slightly.
Finish sauce

  • Remove the pan from heat. 
  • Young Chef: Sprinkle in Monterey Jack and white cheddar. Stir constantly for 1 min, until combined.
Finish and serve

  • Add cheese and turkey mixture to the large pot with pasta and broccoli. 
  • Young Chef: Use a large spoon or spatula to stir it all together.  
  • Divide mac and cheese between plates or bowls.
  • Drizzle with ketchup if you like.

STEP 1: Make the cut

Even the littlest hands can help prep

broccoli. Instead of using a knife, tear

florets into bite-sized morsels, no sharp

blade required.

 

STEP 2: Keep 'em separated

If your Young Chef isn’t keen on mixing

all their foods together, don’t worry!

Boil or roast the broccoli and serve it

alongside. You can even keep the pasta

and sauce separated (toss the cooked

pasta with a bit of butter first.).

 

STEP 5: Switch it up

Switch from a whisk to a wooden or

silicone spatula for this step to make

sure every last drop of the sauce gets

incorporated (and the cheese strands

don’t get caught in the whisk).
