Cooking Steps

Prep
1
  • Before starting, wash and dry all produce.
  • Trim green beans, then halve.
  • Quarter mushrooms.
Cook meat and veggies
2
  • Heat a large non-stick pan over medium-high.
  • When the pan is hot, add 1 tbsp (2 tbsp) butter, turkey, onions and mushrooms. Cook for 4-6 min, breaking up turkey into smaller pieces, until no pink remains.** Season with salt and pepper.
Cook rice
3
  • Using a strainer, rinse rice until water runs clear. Add 1/2 tbsp (1 tbsp) oil, rice and thyme sprigs. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Add cream, stock powder and 1 cup (2 cups) water. Bring to a boil over high.
  • Reduce heat to medium-low. Cover and cook for 10-12 min, stirring occasionally, until rice is tender and water is absorbed.
  • Add green beans and 1/4 cup (1/2 cup) water. Cook for 3-4 min, stirring often, until green beans are tender and water is absorbed.
Finish and serve
4
  • Carefully remove thyme sprigs and discard.
  • Add sour cream. Stir to combine.
  • Divide turkey mixture between plates.

Updated on Feb 2026
  • Flavor: Many found it tasty, but some felt it needed more seasoning. Consider adding garlic or extra onion for a flavor boost.
  • Ease of prep: Customers loved the quick, one-pan concept, though some had trouble with rice cooking times.
  • Suggestions: Cook green beans longer or add them earlier for better tenderness. Some preferred peas as an alternative vegetable.
  • Leftovers: The mushroom flavor improves the next day, making this dish great for leftovers.
  • Texture: For creamier results, add more liquid and cook rice longer; some found it risotto-like.
