Cooking Steps
- Before starting, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil (use same for 4 servings).
- Wash and dry all produce.
- To the boiling water, add cavatappi and peas. Cook uncovered for 8-9 min, stirring occasionally, until tender but still firm to the bite.
- Reserve 1/4 cup (1/2 cup) pasta water. Strain cavatappi and peas, then return to the pot, off heat.
- Meanwhile, peel, then halve carrot lengthwise. Cut into 1/8-inch thick half moons.
- Heat a large non-stick pan over medium-high. When the pan is hot, add 1/2 tbsp (1 tbsp) oil, then sausage and carrots. Cook for 4-5 min, breaking up sausage into smaller pieces, until no pink remains.** Season with salt and pepper.
- Sprinkle Cream Sauce Spice Blend over top. Stir to coat.
- To the pan, add reserved pasta water, broth concentrate, cream cheese, cream and half the cheddar. Cook for 2-4 min, stirring often, until cheeses are melted and sauce has slightly thickened.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- To the pot of cavatappi and peas, pour sauce mixture. Stir to combine.
- Divide pasta between bowls.
- Sprinkle remaining cheddar over top.
