Cooking Steps

Cook pasta and peas

  •  Before starting, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil (use same for 4 servings). 
  • Wash and dry all produce. 
  • To the boiling water, add cavatappi and peas. Cook uncovered for 8-9 min, stirring occasionally, until tender but still firm to the bite.
  • Reserve 1/4 cup (1/2 cup) pasta water. Strain cavatappi and peas, then return to the pot, off heat.

  • Meanwhile, peel, then halve carrot lengthwise. Cut into 1/8-inch thick half moons.
Cook beef

  • Heat a large non-stick pan over medium-high. When the pan is hot, add beef and carrots to the dry pan. Cook for 4-5 min, breaking up beef into smaller pieces, until no pink remains.** Carefully drain and discard excess fat. Season with salt and pepper. 
  • Sprinkle Cream Sauce Spice Blend over top. Stir to coat.
Make sauce

  • To the pan, add reserved pasta water, broth concentrate, cream cheese, cream and half the cheddar. Cook for 2-4 min, stirring often, until cheeses are melted and sauce has slightly thickened.
  • Season with salt and pepper. 
Finish and serve

  • To the pot of cavatappi and peas, pour sauce mixture. Stir to combine. 
  • Divide pasta between bowls. 
  • Sprinkle remaining cheddar over top.

If you've opted to get beef, omit oil, then add beef and carrots to the dry pan. Cook beef in the same way the recipe instructs you to cook the sausage.** Remove and discard excess fat, if desired.
