Cooking Steps

Prep
1
  • Before starting, wash and dry all produce.
  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over high (use same for 4 servings).
  • Thinly slice green onions.
  • Cut any larger broccoli florets into bite-sized pieces.
  • To a large bowl, add vegetarian oyster sauce, soy sauce, 1/2 tbsp (1 tbsp) sugar and 2 tbsp (1/4 cup) water. Whisk to combine, then set aside. (NOTE: This is your sauce!)
Cook beef
2
  • Heat a large non-stick pan over medium-high.
  • When hot, add beef to the dry pan. Cook for 4-5 min, breaking up beef into smaller pieces, until no pink remains.**
  • Carefully drain and discard excess fat.
  • Add ginger-garlic puree, Asian Sesame Blend and half the sesame oil. Cook for 30 sec, stirring often, until fragrant. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Transfer to a plate.
Cook veggies
3
  • To the pan, add broccoli and 1/3 cup (2/3 cup) water. Cook for 4-6 min, stirring occasionally, until broccoli is tender-crisp and water has evaporated.
  • Add remaining sesame oil and carrots. Cook for 1-2 min, stirring often, until carrots are tender-crisp. Remove from heat.
Cook noodles
4
  • Meanwhile, to the boiling water, add noodles. Cook for 1-3 min, stirring occasionally, until tender but still firm to the bite.
  • Strain and rinse noodles with warm water.
  • Return noodles to the pot and set aside.
Finish and serve
5
  • To the pot with noodles, add beef-veggie mixture and sauce mixture (from step 1). Toss to combine.
  • Divide noodles between bowls.
  • Sprinkle green onions over top.

Customer reviews

Review summary

Updated on Aug 2026
  • Flavour: The sesame and ginger-garlic combination delivers a satisfying base flavour; some reviewers found the sauce a little flat or under-seasoned.
  • Ease of prep: Most reviewers found this a straightforward weeknight cook, and some simplified prep by tossing carrots in raw after the beef.
  • Suggestions: Add extra sauce to keep the noodles from drying out, and consider boosting flavour with a splash of sriracha or additional spice from home.
  • Leftovers: Leftovers kept well and were enjoyed the next day, with one reviewer noting the portions were just right for two meals.
  • Protein: Several reviewers preferred beef strips over ground beef, finding strips better suited to the texture of a chow mein stir-fry.
