Cooking Steps

  • To the boiling water, add cavatappi and peas to the boiling water. Cook uncovered for 8-9 min, stirring occasionally, until tender.
  • Reserve 1/4 cup (1/2 cup) pasta water. Strain cavatappi, then return to the pot, off heat.

  • Meanwhile, peel, then cut carrot into 1/4-inch pieces.

  • Heat a large non-stick pan over medium-high. When hot, add 1/2 tbsp (1 tbsp) oil, then sausage and carrots. Cook for 4-5 min, breaking up sausage into smaller pieces, until no pink remains.** Season with salt and pepper. 
  • Sprinkle over Cream Sauce Spice Blend and chicken stock powder. Cook for 1 min, stirring constrantly, until well combined.

  • Add reserved pasta water, cream cheese, cheddar and cream to the pan with sausage mixture. Cook 2-4 min, until cheeses are melted and slightly thickened.
  • Season with salt and pepper, to taste.

  • Pour sauce over cavatappi in large pot. Stir to combine. 
  • Divide sausage mac-n-cheese between bowls.
