Cooking Steps

Cook beef
1
  • Before starting, wash and dry all produce.
  • Thinly slice green onions, keeping white and green parts separate.
  • Heat a large non-stick pan over medium.
  • When hot, add beef to the dry pan. Cook for 3-5 min, breaking up beef into smaller pieces, until no pink remains.**
  • Stir in green onion whites. Cook for 1 min, stirring occasionally, until onions are soft. Remove from heat.
  • Using a slotted spoon, transfer beef mixture to a plate.
  • Carefully wipe the pan clean.
Cook gnocchi and toast sesame seeds
2
  • Meanwhile, cut tomato into 1/4-inch pieces.
  • Reheat the pan over medium-high.
  • Add 1/2 tbsp (1 tbsp) oil and gnocchi. Cook for 7-8 min, turning gnocchi often, until golden. (TIP: Don't crowd the pan; cook gnocchi in 2 batches for 4 servings.)
  • Transfer gnocchi to the plate with beef.
  • To the same pan, add sesame seeds. Toast for 1-2 min, stirring often, until golden. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Transfer to a small bowl.
Make sauce
3
  • Reduce heat to medium-low.
  • To the pan, add cream, cream cheese, Dill-Garlic Spice Blend, 1/2 cup (1 cup) milk and 3 tbsp (6 tbsp) water. Bring sauce to a simmer. Once simmering, cook for 2-4 min, stirring occasionally, until cream cheese has melted and sauce thickens slightly.
Melt cheese
4
  • To the pan with sauce, add beef and gnocchi. Sprinkle with cheddar, then cover. Cook for 2-4 min, until cheese melts.
Finish and serve
5
  • Divide creamy gnocchi between plates.
  • In a medium bowl, combine tomatoes, half the vinegar (use all for 4 servings), 1/4 tsp (1/2 tsp) sugar and 1 tbsp (2 tbsp) oil. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Sprinkle tomato mixture, sesame seeds and remaining green onions over top.

  • Ease of prep: Quick and easy to make, though some questioned if it truly qualifies as a one-pan meal.
  • Suggestions: Consider adding more cheese for extra flavor and creaminess; some preferred the previous version with crispy onions.
  • Leftovers: The dish doesn't reheat well; sauce consistency may change when stored.
  • Texture: Some found the gnocchi too chewy or rubbery; others enjoyed the creamy sauce.
