Cooking Steps

Prep and make cheese sauce

  • Before starting, preheat the broiler to high. Wash and dry all produce.
  • Heat a large oven-proof pan over medium.
  • Meanwhile, using a strainer, rinse rice until water runs clear.
  • When the pan is hot, add 1 tbsp (2 tbsp) butter, garlic and Cream Sauce Spice Blend. Cook for 30 sec, stirring often, until it forms a paste.
  • Whisk in 1/4 cup (1/2 cup) water, 1/2 cup (1 cup) milk, and 2 tbsp (4 tbsp) cheese. Cook for 3-4 min, stirring often, until cheese melts and sauce thickens. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Transfer cheese sauce to a bowl and set aside.
  • Carefully rinse and wipe the pan clean.
Cook Impossible® Burger Patties

  • Reheat the same pan over medium-high.
  • When hot, add 1/2 tbsp (1 tbsp) oil, then Impossible® Burger Patties, carrots and onions. Cook for 5-6 min, breaking up patties into smaller pieces, until crispy.** Season with salt and pepper.
Cook rice

  • Add beef stock powder, 1 tbsp (2 tbsp) butter, 1 1/2 cups (3 cups) water. Cover and bring to a boil over high.
  • To the boiling mixture, add rice. Stir, then reduce heat to low. Cover and cook for 13-15 min, until rice is tender and water is absorbed. (NOTE: Using a rubber spatula, scrape up any crispy rice from the bottom of the pan.)
Stir in curry sauce

  • When rice is done, stir in tomato sauce base and Japanese-Style Curry Sauce into rice mixture.
  • Spoon DIY cheese sauce over top, then sprinkle with remaining cheese and half the panko (use all for 4 servings.)
Bake gratin

  • Broil in the middle of the oven for 3-5 min, until golden.
Finish and serve

  • Thinly slice green onion.
  • Divide rice gratin between plates. 
  • Sprinkle green onions over top.
