Cooking Steps

Cook fusilli

  • Before starting, preheat the oven to 450°F.
  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over high (use same for 4 servings). Wash and dry all produce. 
  • To the boiling water, add fusilli. Cook for 10-12 min, until tender but still firm to the bite.
  • Reserve 1/2 cup (1 cup) pasta water.
  • Strain fusilli and transfer to a medium bowl. Set aside.

  • Meanwhile, peel, then cut half the onion into 1/4-inch pieces (use whole onion for 4 servings).
  • Roughly chop spinach.
  • To a small bowl, add half the Worcestshire sauce, ketchup and soy sauce. Season with salt and pepper, then stir to combine.

  • Pat steaks dry with paper towels. Season with half the Zesty Garlic Blend, salt and pepper.
  • Heat a large non-stick pan over medium-high. When hot, add 1 tbsp (2 tbsp) oil, then steaks. Cook for 1-2 min per side, until browned. Remove from heat and transfer steaks to an unlined baking sheet. Roast in the middle of the oven 5-8 min, or until cooked to desired doneness.**
  • When steaks are done, remove from heat and transfer to a plate. Loosely cover with foil and set aside to rest for 2-3 min.

  • To the same large pot from step 1, heat 2 tbsp (4 tbsp) butter over medium.
  • When butter is melted, add onions. Cook for 4-5 min, stirring often, until onions soften. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Add Cream Sauce Spice Blend and remaining Zesty Garlic Blend. Cook for 30 sec, stirring constantly, until fragrant.

  • To the pot, in a slow, steady stream, add reserved pasta water, then 1/4 cup (1/2 cup) milk, whisking to avoid lumps. Bring to a simmer over high.
  • Once simmering, reduce heat to medium. Simmer for 2-3 min, stirring often, until sauce thickens.
  • Add cheese. Cook for 45 sec-1 min, stirring constantly, until cheese is melted and combined. 
Finish and serve

  • To the pot with sauce, add fusilli and spinach. Stir until spinach wilts. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Thinly slice steaks.
  • Divide mac and cheese and steak between plates.
  • Spoon steak sauce over top of steak.
  • Sprinkle crispy shallots over top.
